Key Responsibilities 
  • Update National privacy policies and procedures collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments for small to medium complex initiatives.
  • Support investigating privacy incidents, patient inquiries, and privacy requests of any kind, making recommendations, and noting potential trend.
  • Identify and assessing privacy risks.
  • Provide privacy advisory and support to teams.
  • Lead and participate on project teams as the privacy subject matter expert.
  • Identify privacy requirements and implement risk management standards and best practices.
  • Develop strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of privacy.
  • Respond and provide advice and legislative interpretation for information and access requests, consent management requests, complaints, or inquiries, appeals and privacy issues 
  • Support privacy program projects and activities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Privacy Office.
  • Update onboarding privacy training as needed and provide additional training on key issues when needed. 
  • Support with continuing to align with Accreditation Canada Standards
  • Other duties as required.
 

Education & Experience

  • Recognized access and privacy designation (CIPP/C) is preferred.
  • Recognized security certification or designation is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health care, health informatics, public or business administration or another relevant field is preferred.
  • 3+  years relevant experience.
  • Experience conducting privacy impact assessments is an asset
  • Direct operational level privacy experience preferably in a health sector and/or IT environment is an asset.
 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of access and privacy requirements and practices, preferably related to the health in public and private sectors.
  • Thorough understanding of “privacy-by-design” and best practices.
  • Knowledge of privacy and health information legislation across Canada
  • Experience with conducting and/or providing oversight for privacy impact assessments including developing privacy requirements, risk mitigation plans, corporate policies and developing and/or delivering training content.
  • Knowledge of technology architecture and infrastructure, digital health solutions and services, enterprise and corporate IT including information and cyber security preferred.
  • Working knowledge of digital health technologies and information security industry standards.
  • Excel in a fast-paced and project focused environment.
  • Exceptional analytic and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
