Personal summary

I am an instructional designer currently based in Montreal, Quebec. I graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning. I then took my passion for learning, creating, and problem solving to the K-12 classroom, where I taught subjects such as science and technology, ethics and religion, special education kindergarten, language arts, math, and geography. The skill set I developed while teaching has been invaluable during my transition into instructional design. I create learning experiences that are grounded in researched-based theories, tailored to my audience, and designed to give learners the tools they need to address a problem without overwhelming them with unnecessary information. I strive to keep the learner at the forefront of every learning experience. In line with the action mapping framework, I begin all projects by looking at the end goal. Once the goal is clearly defined, I’m able to outline what learners need to do to reach that goal and plan the educational activities best suited to prepare them. Rather than wasting time with ineffective info dumps or pretty yet aimless presentations, I want my learners to walk away with concrete, relevant skills and the knowledge of how to use them in their everyday lives.
